Drones
Police have become aware of increasing drone activity in rural areas. Police takes drones seriously ¨C we can and will act on people in breach of rules.
Drone rules:
There are Civil Aviation Rules that all drone operators need to follow
- Fly no higher than 120m (400ft) above the ground
- Stay a safe and considerate distance away from people and buildings
- Don't fly over private land, such as farms or houses, unless the owner says it's OK
- Keep your drone in sight at all times
- Drones can¡¯t be flown at night
- Always keep your drone in sight
- Stay 4 km away from anywhere aircraft are landing or taking off

If you see a drone breaching these rules:
Report it to Police; the more reports we receive, the more likely we can identify trends and take appropriate action.
- Call 111 if there is threat to life or property
- Call 105 or use 105 online
Don¡¯t attempt to seize or damage drones. You cannot shoot a drone, even on your private property ¨C this is an offence.
If you see the vehicle of a drone operator, send us the licence details.
